FFX tops Famitsu's top 20 games that made you cry;... →
Famitsu polled its readers on the top 20 saddest video games, with Final Fantasy X topping the list, citing its storyline, scenario and soundtrack as reasons why. Second was Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, with VII, Type-0, IX and XIII also making the list. Final Fantasy VII, released in Japan in 1997, is the oldest game on the list.

tri-disaster asked: im playing FFXIII atm and i dont understand why people dont like it. once you get accustomed to the paradigm and make your own sets its quite fun and easy. and the whole " its like a movie" is the same reason games like uncharted are so popular. i think its a pretty good FF game.

Anonymous asked: Isn't one of the most difficult issues facing the Final Fantasy franchise and the fans is that the very concept of what makes something "Final Fintasy" is nebulous and hard to define? Seriously, if you were Motomu Toriyama/Yoshinori Kitase/Kazushige Nojima/Tetsuya Nomura, where the heck is your starting point? How do you decide what makes a game an FF game?

If I may, and this is in response to a lot of questions I’ve gotten over the day.
Referring to the first nine or ten games as “classic” Final Fantasy is really a misnomer because the series “changed” as people like to say, a lot earlier than the transition to the PS2: things in the development team really changed with Final Fantasy VII. From VII onwards, Yoshinori...
Anonymous asked: I hope you burn that game as soon as you pick it up. Every game that came after X is an abortion without Hironobu Sakaguchi as a screenwriter. You're not bragging with that game, you're just proving how much you're NOT a true Final Fantasy fan.

montypla asked: I really hope they go back to more traditional battle systems, or even allow you to choose like you can in Dissidia. The more action-y styles were an interesting experiment, I think, but they just don't work as well as either a true action RPG fighting style, or traditional FF system would.

conrady-kun asked: Ever since the Nobuo left square I just can't get into the games like I used to. I mean his music really helped tie together moments and scenes and give them the certain atmosphere they deserve. Final Fantasy 10 was IMO the last Final Fantasy game that actually hit home (you know what I mean?). Do ever see square returning not back to how they used to be but changing their game up from where...

XIII really spoiled me with the option to try again after game overs.
I’ve forgotten just how irritating it is to die in battle and have to start over from the last save point.
